There has been a lot going on around the farm. We finally got some moisture which delayed planting a little bit. It was needed though so we didn't mind. It gave us time to get the cattle worked and out to grass. It can be quite a project getting all of that done. Here is the crew parked in the yard during lunch.
We also decided to sell the old grinder mixers. We don't use then anymore since we don't have hogs. We just get our feedlot grain from Johnson Farms feed mill. It is cheaper to hire it made than to pay a guy to make it and keep the grinders mixers up. We ran an add and sold them all to one outfit. We said we could deliver them so we loaded them up on the lowboy and hauled them to him.
The barn that houses my tractor collection was damaged by the wind this spring, so the decision was made to take it down. It was the old dairy barn. I hated to see it go but it was costing more to keep it up than it was worth.
We moved the collection over to another shed on the farm.
The alfalfa has really been hit by weevils this year. There are also some army worms in it. So the 4920 has been busy spraying Mustang on our alfalfa and for customers.
The other two liquid rigs have been busy staying ahead of our planters and spraying for customers.
We are finally done planting corn. I did a little bit of a lineup change since the new set came out. The 4850 is pulling the 16 row Kinze.
Here it is pulling in the yard after finishing up.
The 4955 is on the CaseIH planter. He is running his markers because a low hanging tree branch on the county road broke the GPS antenna. It is running in wheat stubble.
Here it is pulling in after the last field.
The 4960 is on the John Deere CCS planter.
Here it is pulling in after it's last field.
The Deere and the Kinze are in the shop getting ready to plant milo. The semi in the shop is getting serviced and cleaned up to go south on the harvest run. We are sending the 2 7088s south with Johnson Farms crew. So we have been getting that stuff ready to go.
We have moved on to planting soybeans. We are using the air seeders for them.
Loading up.
This is the other one loading up in the yard.
We are also putting some NH3 on with some of it to see how it works out.
We will be drilling feed and planting milo pretty soon also. It is starting to get busy around the farm now. Questions and comments welcome.
