Realized I had this ready for awhile but didn't get around to posting it. So hear it is.
Welcome to the New Year! The time of year when things start over and plans are made for the months ahead. At Dusty Acres, last year went really well. Looking back, I noticed I shared a lot about the farm, except one thing. I didn’t go into any real detail about our close neighbor Phil.
Phil has been our neighbor for many, many years. His main farm is about three miles away, but it’s still close enough to be a neighbor. The farm has two 60’ by 100’ machine sheds, a 60’ by 80’ shop, house and garage. It also has three 20,000 bu and one 10,000 bu grain bins and a dryer. About three years ago, Phil expanded his operation by buying an 80 acre place across the road from us. There, he put up two 20,000 bu bins and a 56’ by 56’ shed.
Phil asked us to help promote his farm and custom farming business. So, welcome to Phil’s. He wanted the focus to be more on his custom work right now. His plan is to get into the custom work more in the coming years, while decreasing his acreage as business picks up. As of now, his wife, son and daughter in law help him right now full time. Within the last month, Phil had a chance to take on another small business, he purchased a neighbors custom manure spreading business. So, he may be downsizing his acreage sooner than later.
Right now he offers services of planting, tillage, grain hauling, harvesting, grain drying, grain storing and the newly added - manure hauling. He told us his future plan is to add a self-propelled chopper and offer that service as well. Did I forget to mention, Phil is very ambitious. Good luck to Phil and your new business also. Hopefully this will help get the word out about want you offer.
Below are some pictures of his equipment and services his business offers.
(Before I forget, Phil is a fictional neighbor, as well as his business. I figured a little story about him would help since he has been a part of Dusty Acres journals.)
Questions and comments are welcome.
