Last weekend when I was home we were in the process of finishing up soybean planting. We have about 60 acres of no till in corn stalks. This is the least amount of not tilling we've done due to the wetter conditions. The corn stalks have been wet. My brother switched the GPS over to the 9700 and is using that on the planter. The 9700 has more weight on the rear axle and front axle than the TW-10 and doesn't get thrown around as much on the planter. 9700 also has four almost brand new tires to go through the mud better.
It's a little muddy.
Dad sprayed the field a few days earlier and got stuck. I forgot to take my camera with to show you the ruts he left. I had to use the TW-10 on the digger to level out the ruts. I don't really miss using that set up on the digger.
A few long distance shots of live action planting. My brother wasn't using the markers and just using the GPS for guiding. You really can't see the markers in the ground in these conditions.
A few days earlier I was home to do some digging. The day didn't go as planned. I had to do some work on the radiator on the 9700 and it took longer than planned. The field was wheat last year and about 30 acres. We chisel plowed the low ground last year with the drag behind it with the idea of no tilling into it. Due to the wet conditions and the landlord overspreading manure in one area we worked it all up and drilled the beans in. I had to get out seveal times to investigate how wet the field was. I got a little too close to one area.
Nice picture at the end of the day.
.
I had the option of grain drilling. I wish I would have choosen that. Here are a few long shots of my brother do that.
That concludes spring work in our area of West Central Minnesota. Hope you've enjoyed it.
