JW received a call from Jose, one of RDD's farm hands Screaming "Fuego, Fuego, Bring De' Bear" JW ask Donde Tu En, here said in the dry cow pasture to the south. JW dropped what he was doing, and praying, Smokie would start. Then Jose radioed up to the screaming the same thing on the farm radio. Larry, and Tommy had been doing some general maintenance, when the call range out, Larry switched the radio frequency, calling the County Dispatch stating that he had a field fire, and doing his best not to cuss on a open channel about another fire in not so many months. Tommy hopped on the fire quad, and headed out to see what they had. Larry then radioed JW to bring the Fire Disk, JW however answer to late, I am already pulling in your drive.
Tommy heard something racing down the drive, to see Smokie the Bear coming in the drive a little to fast, coming off the top of the hill Dukes of Hazard style.
Jeff heard the request on the radio for the fire disk, and pulled his rig in the drive, found it where in normally sits but no tractor hooked to it, so he ran in the shed, and grabbed the first tractor big enough to pull it fast.
When the pagers went off. Professor Johnson called Brad to tell him if he was coming from his place he was out planning beans, and to pull in, and he'll jump in with him.
Mrs. Johnson responded to the station from in town, and put the Old General on the air to set up a fill sight at the farm.
The Chief, and the rest of the crew got on scene, Old Man Lockwood riding the fighting bumper, looking like General Patton on there. The crews got it under control with the lost of only about 30 acres.
With the fire out, Megan, and the girls had burger on the grill, and cold beverages ready for everyone that helped. Larry was over heard to say, Tommy enough is enough find us our own Fire Truck, and maybe if we are prepared we will never have another fire again.
