Well everyone has been getting impatient with this weather and its raining yet again as I am typing, weatherman claims this is the last batch till the 6th of Nov. Lets hope, wet corn sucks!
They jumped the gun a day and went back to the first patch we tried and cut a bin full before deciding it was to wet. I got sent over with the grain cart to collect what they had.
1/2 mile shot of some neighbor cutting. No clue who or what machines.
Semi is high and dry, barely.
Waited for stuff to dry down for a day or two so went on another short drive.
A few more pictures of that grain bin setup:
4 large bins still arent done.
Sunflowers look pretty pathetic, Im surprised he hasnt cut them down yet.
Me + signs, poles, trees = poor shot
Went through the back side of the dealer. Some of you may know of the huge farm out in colorado with 15+ CIH 6088s? Well our dealer is now taking care of part of the orders. Lots of low houred machines on the lot just ripe for the picking
Found another decent shot,
And the neighbors drill
Neighbor has a slight problem with his Sorghum Silage
Wasnt much time to take pictures, when I arrived they were already behind and it took 3/4 of the time that I was there just to catch up.
Lots of soft spots that arent even lowspots, doesnt help that a few years back every last corn husk from the neighbors field filled up this end of the field.
Neighbors JD combine
Had to break out the little cart, almost got it stuck to
So it was parked at the headlands where it will remain for the rest of the year. We were hauling to the piles in the background however, I never sent the camera with the truck drivers.
Cart wasn't unloading worth a d**n
Some of you may remember back to this spring when I posted pictures of a corn field that was almost leveled by hail? Well this is that field, you wont believe what it made.
He even cut in a couple hundred yards on the other end and backed out and dumped so that he could make it all the way through, must be some good corn
Long ways to go yet
Well that try gained about 1/2 of the needed distance, now what?
Load the auger with grain, and push it into every available spot
Then move the cart so that the combine can pull straight out and start unloading before the rest of the corn makes it through the machine.
That was the excitement for the day, made another 3/4 of a pass and broke down. Managed to shear a key off in one of the row drives which broke us down for the night.
I got a nice picture out of it though
More to come if anyone can ever make it back into the field.
