we have some oil wells on some pastures and we always have projects like that going on. Not at all that big though. Trey, why not, the oil company made the mess, they pay to clean it up, make them. You guys are lucky then, Most of our oil companies won't.

I'll have to look Trey, but I have the phone# for a guy at the KCC thats good to deal with around here somewhere. Give them a call and they'll light a fire under your companies arse. Nothing makes me madder than an oil/saltwater spill. ruins the ground for a long time. And those oil boys dont mess around with the KCC, they can pretty much fine a company whatever they feel nessacary. If you really want to get them to clean it up.

That is a heck of a lot of dirt. I'm curious were you are from. Another thing I don't understand is the saltwater. Was this water that they hauled in and dumped when they were drilling or was this naturally there? Are they going to be done when your ready next spring? Western Canada. Alberta to be specific. They don't call us oil country for nothing The salt water was in the ground naturally, when the drill hit it, and it came up, it had to be stored somehow somewhere. In a tank onsite. A tanker would come evey day to empty the tank and take it to a dedicated saltwater contamination site, and whatever didn't fit in the truck from the tank- they would just let run out on the ground, not thinking anything of it back in 1963.... No there is still somewhat of a hole there and a huge pile of contaminated soil that needs to be hauled to the landfill, it will all be completed and be returned to farmable land sometime in 2010 when they have a new budget ;D It will cost them at least $400,000 in disposal fees to haul all that contaminated soil to the landfill.... man would I love to be the owner of that landfill

You guys are lucky then, Most of our oil companies won't. If they don't HAVE to touch it they will do whatever to avoid spending the money. For the past 10 years we've had that issue with this lease. What was real annoying, was the oil company responsible for opening this lease up kept getting bought out by other companies and our lease just bounced from one company to another and it seemd to have been forgotten about over time, I think uptill now, we've gone through 5 different companies, so you could imagine how much of a PITA it was to phone these guys and get the whole run around and just when you think your almost at the right person to be talking to, the company gets bought out again and you have to start the runaround all over again. I'll have to look Trey, but I have the phone# for a guy at the KCC thats good to deal with around here somewhere. Give them a call and they'll light a fire under your companies arse. We eventually did something similar to that, its called Alberta Environment, we got a hold of them and they pulled the right strings. I guess the contamination of the dirt was so bad, Being down in the hole they were digging it out from would give you a headache after only 15 mins being down there, the guy running the excavtor was getting pertty woozy on the last day. So I think there was more than salts, I heard the name of it but can't remember all of it. but it started with carbon, carbon something.......
