The area I was at didn't have the bigger groves. They was smaller and more family farm types. But I still got the idea on how they do it. I thought this was neat to see them sort and process oranges. Here is the orange/grapefruit groves: Picked and ready to be processed: Loaded up into the processor: Going up the elevator: This keeps too many going in at one time Being washed: Coating of liquid wax is being applied: Into the heated chamber: This helps seals in freshness and allows the wax stick to it better. Ever see an apple with a milky substance on the outside skin. You try to wash off. That is the wax. To help them keep longer on the shelves. More of the heated chamber: On to the shorting table: This is where they bag them up Fresh Oranges - Yummy! Hope you guys learned something from this.
