well, we went to an auction this past weekend and came home with more than we thought. The first thing is the 19' sunflower field finsher. We spent a total of 7 hours pulling this thing home. parked at the hotel for the night. dad didn't wanna pull it in the dark. then there's our next purchase which we just got home tonight. it's a JD 4030 with about 3500 hrs. on an overhaul and a brand new clutch. I dunno about this green tractor on a red farm.... (I hope to get some better pics of this in the next couple days) That's all I got. Questions, comments, criticism welcome...

Nice. That looks like a nice loader on the 4030. Looks like your trailer was almost too short.

You sound like you were a long ways from your home. I'm not familiar with a soil finisher, from the pic I see it has a set of disks and field cultivator shanks and sweeps. Why is this setup better? What are your plans with the 4030?

What are your plans with the 4030? yeah, it was a 3 1/2 hour drive to get there normally. You're right, it's got disks, shovels, and then Drag tines (I think that's what you call them) on the back. Why is this setup better compared to what? a field cultivator, or what we already have? As for the plans for the 4030, I'm still trying to find that out, it'll take over quite a few jobs that our case 1410 had like feeding roundbales every week. It's going to move all our roundbales in the summer, possibly auger, and a few other odd jobs.

How is field finisher better than a field cultivator (sorry, I forgot the field cultivator part).

How is field finisher better than a field cultivator (sorry, I forgot the field cultivator part). A field finisher cuts trash better. And a guy down the road runs a John Deere field cultivator and a Unverferth crumbler, and compared to that it seems to even break up the clods better and make a nicer seed bed. The other nice thing about field finishers (I don't know if cultivators can do this) is you can run this straight in soybean stubble and have a prepared seedbed after the first pass. But this is just my opinion... heck I could even be wrong for all I know haha

last year we pulled a 175 bushel air seeder cart behind our old 2007 sierra, 7 hour round trip got 6 - 7 mpg the way up (pulling into the wind) and coming home pulling the new 250 bushel one, we got almost 30 (that made up for how it was on the way up)

Should have looked on tractor house. They have loads of tractors and a few loaders for sale. if you can't find a loader for a CIH tractor, call your CIH dealer, they should be able to hook you up with one you know. You didn't need this, this, this Deere. Is it a Synco Shift?
