....Kinda
Got my boards set up now, thought I would sort of kick the storyboard off with something...here goes nothing.
1/24/10
Corn in January??? How is that possible?!?!? Well, in New York, it isnt uncommon. The farm that I purchased was leased out to a small beef operation the past few years. They plant enough corn to fill theyre corn crib and to chop and blow into their small pit silo. They had a good yield this year so there was some left over after they filled the crib which was too dry to chop. They didnt want to deal with it so I made a phone call to my friend Jim to have him come out and combine what was left. He runs a 7720 turbo.
I also called my cousin Colin to see if he could lend me a truck and a dump cart, being the great guy he is, he was happy to.
Earlier that week, on an online auction, I purchased a Krause 11 shank chisel plow and an IH 986. I picked those up yesterday night along with a rock picker I found on the way home. Just so happened Boxlers were in the area and let me use one of their Steigers to plow up some oat stubble....I am so glad I have developed good-neighbor relationships with other farms
The 806 on Jim's header cart came with the farm when I bought it. It is one slick machine
On to the pics
Jim cutting away
My cousin Andy parking the rock picker along the laneway so it is out of the way for a while. He will be helping me out on the farm as well and will be running his small fabricating business from my shop when I get it built
Colin wanted to try out a 530 Quad Track so he was running that on the cart
Colins new truck
The 806 parked along the main laneway
I'm plowing stubble with the Steiger
Some overhead shots
That's all for now, hope you enjoy
