Shot from a helicopter over the farm:
Here is an overview of the farm looking over the house:
Ill start by showing pics of the side with the house and cattle:
The house is a ranch style with a 3 car garage and rear wood deck.
The cattle barn is an arch style barn but is a new version. It is a metal sided building that we custom designed with Morton. We bale a lot of straw and hay and needed a place to store it. A little over half of the barn houses the show cattle and is used when we AI some of our cows/heifers. The rest houses the cattle trailer, skidsteer, and 4020 and feed grinder, and the manure spreader.
Next is the feedlot. We finish out both Herefords, some crosses and holstein steers that we buy. The barn has a curtain that we can close when needed.
Next here is a shot looking down the hill to the field that is behind our house/property. The bin in the picture is always filled with corn that we use to grind feed for the feedlot cattle and can supplement in the winters to the cows if need be.
Ok, now onto the actual farm operations side. We'll first stop at the new shop that we built a little while ago. It is awesome! It is 130x70 feet. Over half of that is shop space. We specifically designed it to get the combine in with the heads on. It has 2 overhead doors. One big enough for combines and one for tractors and trucks. It has a loft and office, as well as an awning so we can sit out there when we aren't working. The rest of the barn houses the tractors and combine and a couple other things.
Next is the 120x60 foot shed that we put up a while back. over half is enclosed equipment storage and the rest is an open sided storage for hoppers, heads, and other things. This just made sense for us when we put it up and it has really worked out nice.
The oldest building over here is the old, surviving equipment shed that we have converted to a sprayer/seed building. Seed is stored in here when we have it. it works pretty well with the double doors on the sides so we can just drive through, load, and go. All spraying equipment including tanks is stored in here. The spray tender trailer and the sprayer is stored in here as well when not in use. The forklift stays out here during planting to move the pallets of seed but spends the rest of the time in the shop to lift things and put stuff on the loft.
The last picture is from the pasture looking at the bins. We use augers to store grain. We have two semis to haul with. One is a daycab and the other has a 60inch sleeper that we use for longer runs. The daycab spends most of harvest hauling grain to our bins while the daycab goes to the elevator and is used in the winter to earn some extra cash.
