It has been business as usual around J&R Farms. With the exception of the semi that David bought from Minkler Farms. Here he is showing it to Don after he brought it home.
Calving is in full swing. It hasn't went too bad considering the cold weather and the mud that came later. They are about 75% done. They had a couple of cows that lost calves so Mike was taking them to the sale barn.
Don was doing the feeding with the 1086. They are pretty happy with it so far. It has performed pretty well for a almost 30 year old tractor in the 2 months that they have had it. Here he is going into the heifer pasture to feed.
Reloading the feed wagon to head over to the older cow pasture. They are not as close to home because they are all 3rd calf and up cows so they don't have to be watched as close as the 1st and 2nd calfers.
Heading out.
They are also wanting to spread some dry fertilizer onto the wheat when the fields dry up of freeze hard enough to drive on. The problem is by the time they are done feeding and checking cows in the morning the fields are getting too muddy to run in. So they put the spreader in the shop and checked it over and made sure it was ready to run when the weather permitted.
They also have the floater in the shop getting it ready to run. They will also be putting some liquid on the fields that may have weed problems. The 1086 is also in getting serviced. It sees a lot of hours in the winter during feeding time.
That is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
