Its been a busy winter on BH Farms. We ended up renting another 7 1/4s. We were trying to upgrade the old Vers 835 and 33ft Flexi drill but just didnt happen. Will make for some long days seeding. Might find what we are looking for in summer when the dealers want move some steel. We did how ever upgrade our spraying. We knew once we signed the lease that our old Vers 580 pull type would not cover the acres. We were really pushing it with our 1000acres we already had. We borrowed the neighbours step deck and went for drive into the US and found an awesome deal on a Gator. 90ft booms, 900gal tank. 800hrs on it and never seen liquid fert. Even with the exchange it was 30k cheaper. The NH next to Agco had a deal on some hay equipment, they said they would deliver it to the boarder and were on our own after that, will probably have to meet them and drive it home. We are trying some peas again this year. Only 320 acres. Last year they did awesome with the drought. The rest of our land will be split between canola and wheat. Will do some barley again but only 1/4. Also have some low land that is good for oats, 40 acres is all we want deal with if the straw is tough when we combine. Now onto the pictures
Our new sprayer, checking it over before heading out to burn down our pea land. Cant wait, will be a big learning curve over the old pull type. I just like the fact there is a rate controller and suspended booms.
Going over the airdrill and 835. Will probably be the last season for both. The 835 might hang around as a 2nd tractor.
We are filling in the yard, fields are close enough and I dont have my helper yet so saves some walking back for trucks Our pea fert blend is in a wheatland and we cleaned our own seed so its on the body job.
Out seeding, peas is always fun, were the first ones around our area seeding.
Want to roll the peas right after seeding, supposed to rain and snow again. Have the 1086 on the rollers this year the 4440 batteries were dead again. Guess its a battery year again.
Fueling Up
Switching to field position. Can be tricky by yourself.
Away we go.
Just waiting for it to dry up a bit more before we start into our wheat. An 1" of rain and another 1" of snow will make some good sloughs to go around, first time in 5yrs. Lucky we have 4wd with our gator, will be using that.
