Nothing real major is happening on Kejr Farms but I thought I would do a short journal to show what is going on. We needed some maintenance and calibration done on our scale so we called the guys a High Plains Truck Scales. They are based in Limon, CO which is about an hour south of the farm so they arrived mid morning. It had been a while since it was last done and finances were available for this service. They recommend having scales calibrated every year but sometimes the money isn’t there. We were noticing growing discrepancies between our scale and the one at the elevator, so this became a priority. A lot of local farmers will be using our scale throughout the harvest season as we have one of two scales within about a three mile radius. The other farmer isn’t so willing to let everyone use his scale so that leaves us. Otherwise the nearest scales are at the elevators which are about 1 hour away so most farmers store most of their crop on their home farms but use our scale. Everything should be good to go after this.
Grandpa drove over to meet them.
Getting to work.
They discovered a ruptured brake line later in the day so they pulled their truck over and we repaired the line before they left.
Our Allis Chalmers HD-5 crawler with bucket was also returned recently. Grandpas cousin had it at their farm for the past several months. They came to get our lowboy a few days ago so they could haul it back. These are two quick customs. The crawler was an army crawler and I just repainted it with industrial paint and aged it a little. I don’t think it is an AC crawler but we had an AC HD-5 with bucket so this one will represent the HD-5. Also the Ford semi used to be a part of a harvest crew but that semi was replaced. I pulled the cab off and put it on an older chassis and aged it a bit and it looks pretty good.
Pulling into the south driveway.
Here is the new semi for the Harvest crew. I found an ertl casting of the LTL9000 which is better that the wnross versions and wanted to use that. I repainted it and detailed it. I also put it on a DCP chassis with a headache rack. Looks pretty sharp.
Any questions, just ask! I hope to have a more esciting journal up over the weekend, so stay tuned.
