HP help

Hey guys I am looking at having a Lanoll 2110 chisel built. i am looking at the 13 shank but want to make that my 8640 could pull it. we have some heavy soil in my area.
what do you guys think?

guys around here pull 13 shank chisel plows with those so i wouldnt see why not

whats ur ground like? and are they chisel or disk chisels? do disk chisels take more to pull them? i would they it would

disk chisels and our ground varies from heavy clay to sticky black wax and when its dry its hard as a rock and bieng just smooth straight coulters dont really notice a pull from them and i have a close friend with an 8630 pulls a 9 shank disc chisel and 6.5 mph with no load what so ever in the same conditions and we both agree that a 13 shank would be more suited for the tractor

and i just looked at landoll's site for wehat your machine looks like and that is pretty much similar to the chisel plows we are pulling we are just using the deere and ih equivalent

Ok thanks for the help. Only reason I'm so concerned is that I have heard from more than one source that I need 30 hp /shank.

well if i remeber right the 8640 was around 260 some odd hp?? and my cat challenger 65a was running 265hp at the drawbar and we put a 13 shank behind it and that seemed to be just what it wanted behind it plus a little ballast and tire pressure adjustments wont hurt either

they were only 275 hp at the engine and only 200 hp at the drawbar according to Tractordata.

o well i have backed off on getting the chisel plow. its gonna be awhile til i get to build it now
