That is a pretty nice lookin 7720. When i was reading the top of your post about riding in the combine on the arm rest all day long, folding and turning on the auger, and first learning how to drive a combine in that one, every single one of those memories you had in that combine i had in the old L2. I defenitely know how you feel about that combine, and it was hard for me to see the L2 go down the road to its new home, hopefully your uncle never will have to sell the ole girl.

Nice pics. You seem to leave the straw pretty high, almost as high as a stripper head. BTW my first combine ride was in a 1688 CIH.

I noticed the straw too. Maybe he didn't want to run all that straw throught the combine. I first rode in a 1666 combine.

That wheat was pretty tall that is why the straw is that tall. That is the second crop since it was alfalfa so it is still making good straw.

My first ride was on a TR86. Spent many hours sitting on that little food tray that folds down. I always controlled the auger and turned the header on and off. Still drive the thing today, infact just spent 3 hours on the thing two days ago. Brings back good memories! Thanks for posting!

410 Massey was my first ride. Both my dad and uncle had one. No cabs, got removed mid harvest the first year they had them cause they was unbearable in the heat. Used to sit on the platform behind the seat.

My 1st combine ride was in my cousins 79 John Deere 7720 Turbo, I will always have a soft spot for the 7720 Deere combines, now that he has a 9610, I really love driving her as well... Those 9X00 & 9X10 series combines are really a great machine as well, Very nice cab and capacity over the old Titans, even though I really love the Titans, I Really love the Maximizer Deeres as well, Its a shame Deere quite building the 9660 and 9560 Walker machines, I know they offer the 9660WTS and T670I but they were small grain combines only. Just my honest opnion but I think Deere's Best combines were there Conventional combines... From the 55 through the 9660 Walker.... I have heard both postive & negative opnions on both the Deere STS and Walker combines But I will always be a Conventional combine fan, yeah Rotaries are great in tough green stem soybeans or high mosture corn or high yeilding corn, but even though a 9600/9610 ain't a big machine anymore they can still hold there own.

Not in the dryer small grains around here. My cousin lives in south of Swift Current, Sask and they run TR96 w/30ft Macdon, TR98 w/36ft Macdon, TR99 w/36ft Macdon and they were running 5-6mph in downed peas while a neighbor's 9650 was running on a 30ft dry barley swath at 3-4mph. So on the prairies you go rotary! Prefferably adual rotor like NH and Lexion.
