2 nights ago one heck of a storm came through here. There was lots of damage done, depending on what areas your fields were depended on how lucky you were. One farm apparently lost 80 % of their corn crop, and they are very big farmers, i think they probably have about 2000 acres of corn. Anyways we were lucky and just on the edge of it, our wheat here at home got hurt pretty bad, about 50% loss on average but the other half of our wheat crop 20 miles north didn't even get touched so we will be fine. I really feel for some guys that were in the middle of this though, there were 6 pivots tipped over, corn which was over waste how now varies anywhere from 2 inches to 12 inches in the bad spots, most of the edible beans are totaled, and quite a few pivot corners of wheat got beat into the ground. Anyways enough talking, here are some pictures to show just how bad it was.
Here is a pivot corner of wheat, or was a pivot corner of wheat.
A tipped over pivot on what used to be corn, all four towers are on the ground.
Another one.
As you can see this corn is almost beat into the ground.
both sides of the road.
Here is a look down the rows.
Some irrigation pipe that got blown into the ditch.
Off into the background you can see a 7 tower pivot which everyone of the towers were on the ground.
And then a mile or two farther south and the corn didn't even get touched, this guy was lucky.
This corn was annihilated.
There was about 10 poles broke off.
And then here are some pictures of our wheat that got hailed, like i said we were lucky compared to alot of people but as you can see here it still isn't good...
And this field took the most damage, before it would have made about 70, now we will be lucky if it makes 15?
Like i said we were lucky enough to have the storm miss all of our other wheat that is 20 miles north of here. That wheat looks pretty good there and i think we might be able to start cutting it in about a week or so but thats probably just wishful thinking since this harvest is so late.. Anyways i will have lots of harvest pictures to post when it finally starts. Comments and questions welcome.
