Nothing wrong with old machines,
My uncle has an 850 combine and is running a 6 row corn head and a 15' grain head.
Theres several MF pull-types, the newest I do beleive is the 852.

With a 1680 a 30 foot head would be as large as I would go.
I definitely prefer the looks of the newer combines although some of the older ones werent to bad.

I like the looks of a good old square walker machine. I grew up around those and there are still a lot of them working around here. I like the new CaseIHs looks.

A NH TX66 in our area would work well with a 25ft draper or auger but we have very wet and hard to thresh crops (the grain is dry and the straw is still wet and tangled) so auger heads don't work the greatest, but if you've got easy to thresh crops then a 30-36ft draper or 30ft auger would work beautiful.

I love the looks of an older IH 1480-1680 or NH TR or TX, not a fan of the off-center cabs on the JD's and MF's though.

I kind of like the looks of the the combines from the 90s the best. 2100, 2300, and 2500 series case ih's are my favorite. A lot of people around here run 6 row heads. Our land is not suited for 16 row equipment, but a few run 8 row heads. The more serious farms run 20' to 30' heads flex heads.

Used to be lots of pull-types around here. (south Sask.) We pulled JD 106, 6601's with 1135 and 1105 MF's (110-125 pto hp). Local guys pulling later model pull types or the bigger models like 7701,7721 Deere's and 1482/1682 IH's usually had 160-200hp up fron. We had neighbors pulling JD 7721's with everything from a 1370 Case to 8430 and 8560 4wd Deere's. One local guy even dragged one around with a 4620 for a couple years. 5288 IH and 7120/7130 CIH seemed to be the popular choice round here for 1482/1682's.
The last couple MF pull types were 751 and 851. Don't have much experience around them but one neighbor pulled one of each at one time with a 2-155 White.
1680 will handle a 30' header without issue. 860 MF should as well I would think.
I grew up around the older Deere's (pull type and self propelled) so I'm still a little partial to them, but this now the 3rd harvest with a CIH 8010 with a 40' Macdon FD 70 hanging off the front......... it'd be pretty hard to go back to 7700 or 8820.

an 860 would handle a 30 ft without trouble. we ran an 850 with a 24 and it could have run a 30 fine most of thet time. Ive never seen a massey pulltype would like to though. I cut my teeth on masseys, so I kind of have a soft spot for them. I hate there new machines though. You gotta love the old combines.
