Flax never is a big yielder. We look for high 20's-low 30's. This particular field was seeded in June, in the mud and was in flower when the heat hit. It yielded 23-24 bu/ac. If you can get a flax crop of 25bu/ac your basically beating a mid to high 30's crop of Canola for net $/ac with the current prices. So when it comes right down to it, it wasn't that bad of a crop. We may bump the flax acres up for next year.

Sounds like oats in our area. Good prices, low inputs and big yields=lots of fun and $$$
