thanks austin. lol the first aint gonna happen. lol Jeff is good but i dont think he could pull that off. i do want to get an 875 one day. when i asked for suggestions i meant like wat models of implements should i run. i figure i can run a 15 shank chisel plow and a 36 ft. FC. ( i think im gonna build a 36.5 ft John Deere 980)

I dont know anything about your soil types and what not, but around here a 300hp 4wd can pull a 30ft disc at 4mph(that speed is more to keep the disc from ridgeing, you can pull it faster), 50ft f/c at 6-7, a set of 35ft v-blades at 6, and a 25ft chisel at 4-5, pretty easy. These are just examples of course, it depends on depth and so. Our soil types vary from lose sandy to clay gumbo.

You could always look at if from the aspect that you would not be working the tractor very hard. And theoretically you should save on wear and tear since you aren't taxing the tractor as much. You could possibly even shift up and gear and idle back and save fuel. Your soil type will make a lot of difference also as Dustin said.

ok thanks guys. here is what i came up with: im gonna build a 42.5 ft John Deere 980 f/c and look for and build a 18 shank chisel plow. (should be about 25 ft wide.)
anyone have that F/C? we run a 24.5 980 and i would guess that the main frame would be similiar. it is 12.5 foot wide. so if it were that wide that would make the wings 10 ft. does that sound right?

Normally on a chisel plow the shanks are 1’ apart. Cultivators are usually from 6” to 8.5” apart. Some air seeders have a 10” spacing. Don’t know anything about a Deere cultivator.

*im talking a chisel plow. not a chisel disk/ disk chisel
