Personally, I think the thing sat out in a pasture for a number of years the way the hoses were dried out, I already had 2 blow on me, and all the tires are dry rotted (2have already been changed). As for the 4890, it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Haha

Caleb W I'd like to find a coil tine setup for the back of it, but I only found one dealer that had a set (off a 40 footer, i could make it fit), but they wanted 2 grand for the whole set up. That just kills me cause I didn't even pay that for the field cultivator itself! we'll see how it does this year, it's main purpose is to fill in ruts and dry out the soil so we can hit it once with the field finisher and packer and be ready to plant.

I would sand blasted it. It would gone faster and lot better than a 4 inch grinder. Last few projects I did that needed to be painted. I used the blaster.
It looks great though. A few farmers here used to redo their tillage implements at times. But now they don't even bother since they don't even use them.

I've been using a blaster for my truck I've been working on, and I've been beginning to dread blasting. That sand goes everywhere! And maybe itd be better if I sifted my own sand, but at 8 bucks a bag, that would've added up. I'm still not positive I get a spot in the barn for this

I do mine off the side of our shop. Where the grass is. After a few rains, you never knew you was there. I shift my own sand as well to get rid of trash that clogs up the gun. I don't mind blasting as I get a shower afterwards. Sure beats grinding on it. And you get all the nooks and crannies in the process.
