Decided to take a little trip when I was in Fuquay to go look at some of the Farms. Some of the pictures I got. JD 7920 at what I believe to be Sears Farm (Grows around 1000 acres of Tobacco and Soybean rotated with wheat). Yes those are old School Buses in the background used for Tobacco Harvest. John Deere 9500's series ready for Soybean Harvest. The Golden leaf. Also spotted a John Deere Modified for Tobacco, Front and rear axle are extended.

Tobacco was everywhere 30 years ago, seemed like every other field was it. Now a days Sears and the Gradys farm is the only one I have seen growing tobacco on such large acreage.

Looks good, I agree on that. I went to the beach several years ago, you could see fields of it. I went back like 2 years ago, and you didn't see that much grown. Plus the anti tobacco use ads and added tax in our state don't help much either for production wise.

The Federal Government pretty much ended the growing of Tobacco on most farms. Then once the state found out they could not defend it any longer they hopped ship too. Without tobacco to grow alot of farms were in fear of going under and had to grow less profitable crops. Then came the hog and now they are taking that away too. I will try to get some pictures of Tobacco Harvest in the field behind us when it starts up in 2 weeks. Also got to plant my clover in for Turkeys...

I remember an article in the NC Ag review. That China was in talks about buying tobacco. And some of the farmers was wanting that to happen so they could grow it for exports. I hadn't heard about any updates to that yet.

we are under contract growing now, and china is now a buyer for tobacco. we are part of the "elite 4" in the company we are with that will be shipping stuff to china. means more acerage of ontario golden leaf tobacco will be wanted.
