Just wondering how people make their equipment look rusty or "well used". I was wondering maybe brown paint but I was not sure. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I do, originally I used a water-color based borwn with a little orange and red. It washed right off, which was nice. Now I switched to a Testors rust paint. Also, dusty the equipment up with some sifted dirt. Caked on mud, always is a nice touch for barnyard tractors.

I have several ways that I do it, but the Testors stuff is the easiest, it is what I used on the Manure Spreader truck I just did, Chris

I use a series of rust colored paints that I get through my local hobby store. They're designed for gaming miniatures like Warhammer and such. The line-up consists of a dark rust, light rust, and a yellowish rust. Been playing with application techiques and am coming up with some nice results. Also have a couple of wood colored paints as well.
