I am wanting to repaint some items I have in my collection, but don't want to screw it up. I am hoping some of you might be willing to offer some suggestions. I plan on repainting a John Deere haybine into a Gehl 2170. Where do I start? If this goes well I want to repaint a John Deere tractor into a Leyland 270/272. Any suggestions on removing rivets/re-riveting or should I leave everything as intact as I can? I don't want to muck it all up as the starting pieces are in good condition. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Brandon

i wouldnt take the rivets out i would suggest that you take some bondo and fill the rivets in and sand it to match the surroundings if the rivet is in the sidescreens like some tractors you can take a knife and carve the lines for the screen after it drys also do the same to the seem in the hood where they put the to peices togather it will really make it look good as far as paint i would just sand it lightly , prime , and paint it i would suggest use good paint stay away from the cheep stuff LoL!! but thats just me i hope i helped

Thanks for the input. I never thought of using bondo to fill in. I was planning on using the tractor paint sold at Fleet Farm. Is there a better option?
