I just finished a pair of Great Plains 3000 30 ft 3pt drills for a fellow TTT member and thought I would show them here before I shipped them out. This drill is way too new to fit into the time period for Kejr Farms but it is the display that I have so just roll with the story line, sort of a flash forward to the present on Kejr Farms. Also, the AC 7045 is the only tractor that I have that has a 3pt hitch, looks like a decent pair to me. This journal will only feature one of the drills. Enjoy.
Grandpa was working in the shop when he saw this rig roll by. There was a rumor that one of the neighbor farms was getting a new Great Plains drill. This must be it! Here it is coming down the road and turning into the field across the road.
Grandpa wanted to go check it out so he hopped in his truck and drove over (he is in the blue ford). He arrived just behind the owner of the new drill. Apparently he needed make some minor adjustments as the hired man driving the tractor and my grandpa looked the drill over.
The seed truck arrives so Grandpa pulls out around the oil well and gets back to work.
The seed truck pulls around the oil well also. It’s a tight squeeze!
Finally, they are ready to roll!
Here are a few close ups of the drills.
Here is one of the drills all loaded up and on its way to Texas. The other will be on another load later in the week.
This was a fun project! I just want to offer a word of thanks for Jace Jones for the opportunity to build these drills. He has been great to work with. Now it is on to my next project, which also is a pair of Great Plains implements, so be on the lookout for them Austin! I am excited to get your pieces going a little faster. I need to get them going as I also have twin boys arriving toward the end of June/Early July so time will be limited for toys. Thanks for looking! Feel free to ask any questions.
