Finally completed this project and learned many things along the way. Biggest lesson of all: Painting Sucks! Combine has raisable feederhouse, rear steer, front tracks, new RWA tires, scratch built wheat head (except side shields) Still needs: corn head, swivel ladder, new graintank (had one made and ruined it during paint), new reel for grain head, and flashers installed on grain head. Combine with header on: Scratch built 30' wheat head: Questions or Comments are welcome

One of the most unique CIH combines I've seen in a while. It looks great. I'm kinda wondering, how did you do the cutter teeth on the head?

Cutter teeth were a pain in the a$$ to do. Basically it involved some window screen, a scissors, and a lot of patience. You have to glue it on there just perfectly or else it will not lay flat. Also have to be careful with glue as it will fill in the gaps and hide the teeth.
Thanks for the comments clayton and brandon

wow looks awesome. im no CIH guy but i wouldn't mind having that in my collection. lol
just an idea for you. to get an easy sickle cutting bar, take the spiked cutting edge off a tape dispenser and use that. its already made, and it looks perfect.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Gordy - Biggest problem i have with paint is either not having it lay flat of having a brush bristle fall out into wet paint. I am way better at brush paiting and think i will be doing that as much as possible.
Im still trying to decide if i want to repaint the entire combine or not as the Ertl red is way to light and doesnt match the CIH paint that i am using right now.

I thought about using the teeth off of the cutting edge on saran wrap or foil boxes but, i did not want to buy a box of foil just to make a sickle bar. I was kind of worried how mine would look after paint, but it turned out better than expected and I am happy with it.
I got the new ladder built for the combine as the Ertl one seems to be way to short. The new one will swivel and if i can figure it out, i may make it tilt also. Then its on to making new handrails to replace the bulky ertl ones.
As i get more parts done for this, I will update this post so be sure to check back often.

Looks really good Austin. Do the real ladders tilt? The head looks really good. You could just wait for a foil box to get empty.

Not sure if the real ladders tilt or not. I know our 2188 the ladder can be tilted up for when its muddy or going through washouts. I just went ahead and made the ladder swivel forward and back. I would like to make the rear ladder fold up and down but not sure how.
