I haven't ever made scratch models before. I have made slight modifications to 1/64 scale models I have. But I am curious where to get the stuff to make some custom equipment. where do you buy the plastic to start building my own equipment

Go to your local hobby shop. Most places will have balsa wood and polystyrene stock that you can choose from. As for the implement parts, places like Tractor Fab or Moore's have all kinds of things. (Websites below.) Otherwise, pick the brains of the guys here on this site. Good luck on your future builds.
