For a long while we been using a old New Holland sickle mower on the hobby farm. Last week dad was at Parkers New Holland to pick up parts. And saw a new disc mower on the lot. After asking about it. A few days later I went with him to pick it up. This is the smallest disc mower New Holland builds. Our Ford 3000 should handle it well since that is our biggest tractor with "modern" hookups. From the dealer's story a farmer bought it last year. Used it some and decided not to do haying anymore. They brought the mower in to resell. And the dealer somehow damaged it during unloading on their lot. So we got it lot cheaper due to used and damaged equipment. However the dealer said they was like a month behind in the shop. So dad and I said we can fix it our selves. So we brought home with a box of new parts. The housing assembly for the PTO to main belt drive busted. So we have a new housing. Since our shop isn't big enough. I told dad we will use the loader to hoist the main part to keep it steady so we can replace the housing. Here is the other damage to the sheet metal. Nothing a good rubber hammer can't fix.

that's a nice little mower you have there. There isn't many like that around my area. There is a odd sickle mower but most farmers just use them to cut small trees and ditches.

Have you guys got your first cut of hay in? Yes, we are still working on it. So far 2 fields are done, and 1 customer field is done. The yields are horrible from the hot/cold spells from this spring.

There isn't many like this either. Most went to haybine, or discbine. But those are way out of our budget. And the ones that we can afford are worn slam out.

Yeah tell me about it. We needed to buy one for our farm a few years ago. All we could find was ones that looked like they were used for rock crushers.

Nice mower. How do you like it? That's all my family has used for cutting for quit some time. My dad also volunteers to cut along ditches of the county roads on his way to and from the fields.

No kidding, most I saw the header bearing are shot, the gearbox is dead, and it looks like it got about beat to death. So when this deal showed up. We got it.

So far its torn apart for the most of it. I will try to get a few pics of it apart. We hope to hit at least a couple fields before we are done haying. We have like 3 more to do.
