Is wrapping hay a option in your area? You mean with a mesh wrap instead of twine? If so some farmers do that. However more times than once I see the wrap make a mess and bales bust up. So twine is far better. As you don't see many of those bust up. Now the full wrap stuff. I don't see that, just to much work. Most of our bales goes up into barns. If outside they either stay out or get a tarp to cover them.

We sometimes have a neighbor use there in line H&S wrapper to full wrap big bales. Usually when the hay is only half dry and their talking lots of rain. Costs a little more, but cheaper than buying hay. Almost like haylage.

Most of the time we bale dry. I usually check the weather carefully and make sure there is enough sunny days to do it.
