Big E Farms: getting ready for harvest

well its that time of year again on the farm. wheat harvest is right around the corner. we were hoping to try to start cutting samples this weekend but we got 2 inches of rain the other night and that might hold us back a while. some have already started cutting in a neghboring county and the yeilds this year are not good at all. the guy at the elevator down there said the best wheat he has gotten in so far was doing 16 an acre. this just isnt a good year fellas. well enough rambling. here are some pics.

got a call in from the dealer and another new combine awaited us there.



then the hired hand had to go back to the dealer to get some things.

meanwhile we fired up the other combine and got it out.


then we hooked up the 1086 to the grain cart to pull it out and into the shop. we are hoping that our 8330 will be in before the harvest otherwise we are in a bit of a pickle.

started changing the sickle sections and the heads and giving the combines the run around.


then i sent the wife to go get the travel trailer from her parents. we bought it from them.


pullin out the 1086 to get the trucks in there to start servicing them.


then i had to go get the double combine trailer from an auction. we bought it last week.


then we serviced the trucks.


the grain trucks are ready to go.


wife and kids are getting the trailer ready to go.

parked the kinze there for now. got our fingers crossed that our grain cart tractor will get here soon.

everything is ready to roll!

Nice journal. That sucks that your yields aren't very good. I am getting my crew ready to head south. I really like that double combine trailer. I should start taking my camera with me to work. The harvest crews are starting to roll through town. I think your camper may be a bit much for an F-150 though. Better put a diesel under that bad boy. ;D

in the thrid pic from the bottom i have the new super duty under it ;D

Great journal, we will start getting our combines ready to head south soon too, we only go to southern kansas.
