Hey Guys, some of you may remember that i am building a Co-op display and ive finally decided on a name for it: Indy Crop Care. My display is fictional but based off of a lot of the co-ops and ag centers in my area. The Majority of my ideas have came from these actual places: the former Indy Crop Care, currently Crop Production Services Independence located in Independence, Iowa, The Dunkerton Co-op in Dunkerton, Iowa. The former Landmark and United Suppliers location in Dunkerton, Iowa (Now known as "The Hill" location for the Dunkerton Co-op. They were sold about 6-7 years ago.) and CPS's Northeast Iowa Dry Fertilizer Terminal in Dyersville, Iowa. Anyone from the Northeast part of Iowa may recognize some of the real buildings built to scale for my display. (Once i finish them of course)
For some background information and why I want to do a display like this is that the simple fact of I've never seen a Co-op at the National toy show and want to take one there. Now the real Indy Crop Care was formed in 1994 or 1995 when three friends and co-workers at Nell's Ag service bought the business from Nells when he retired. They provided seed, chemical, and fertilizer to the farmers. The business grew as the years went by but the owners were also getting older and wanting to retire soon so in march of 2015 they sold their business to Crop Production Services.
Since I dont currently have to room for a full on display Ive been working on the equipment and here are some of what ive got finished right now:
The winter makes the shop a busy place with everyone working on the equipment and getting it ready for the coming spring. We brought in the dry machines to service and get inspected by the dealership. The tender trucks were also brought in for service.
Late December we brought in the liquid machines and tenders. The over-the-road trucks were also serviced we have two Freightliner Colombias that we keep on the road hauling in all of our liquid and dry products. If we get behind hauling grain in the fall we sometimes switch them over to that. Taking beans to Cargill in Dubuque, Iowa and bringing back dry fert.
Finishing up work on the side dressers and servicing our post machines. we started work on building another liquid tender trailer to follow the hagies around in the summer and one old driver we have had his 4300 International that he wont give up in shop. Turned out all he wanted was a new seat.
Running the last of the post machines and a few trucks through the shop last week.
Well that about all ive got for now ill probably have another update in a few weeks on more post spraying equipment. Questions and Comments welcome
Thanks, Nolan
