On the Pembroke they had close to 2,000 acres to be worked up each year. Usually it was split about half in cotton and corn. Unless its on the 7th season of the field. Then it sits for a year to give it "rest".
After the field was fertilized if needed. The tillage equipment came out. Over the years it varied on the equipment and tractors.
Usually a smaller disk is used on the farm. Most of the time its a Rome disk. And pulled by the John Deere 4955. Its used on the smaller fields, or to open up the larger fields. So the bigger disk don't have to worry about the first lap.
For a long time the Woods & Copeland 320-C was used on the larger disk.
Later on the Rome 450-C was used on the same disk.
Before I stopped doing Journals. I was trying to fit in a Steiger CA325. These was pics I played around with in the past.
I did have plans on retiring one of the older tractors to other duties on tillage. And getting a newer tractor. I was leaning towards either John Deere 9620, CIH 535 or 600, or the Challenger MT875E. I did had a crazy idea of using a Big Bud 525-50 that is refurbished. With my theme of Big Yellow tractors. I was really leaning towards the Challenger MT875E with tracks.
