Just a little late, but....... A few days rain, a few days no rain. So far that has been the weather pattern for June. Don’t get me wrong, the moisture is greatly needed, it does cause a little stress when trying to get hay up. But it’s a part of farming. Lucky for us we were able to chop hay and wrap bales around the weather. We also had a streak were hay was able to be dry baled. Along with baling first crop, the first part of June is also when we double check for weeds in the corn and bean feeds. Once the moisture and heat show up, it’s not long before the crops are too big to hit with our sprayer again. June is also the start of the parade season around here. We took the time last weekend to load up the 1206 to run in one. We thought it was also a good time to further try out the new to us 1960 Ford C600. It was one of those finds which could not be passed up. Fully restored and rebuilt, it should make for a very nice farm truck. Mostly for pulling trailer for now. All in all, it has been a very good start to the summer. The only possible downside has to do with Phil and his combine. He informed us he may not have his around for much longer, but reassured us he knows of one we might be interested in. We knew this day would eventually come, with Phil nearing retirement age and changing his custom farming business. So next week we will go looking. A later model would be alright. Watch for a update next time.
