Doing some Preventive Maintenance (Early Farms week 167)

Jeff stopped by to grab the creep feeder for his pen of last season calves, while JW was doing some Preventive Maintenance on the two Combine to be used this year on corn.







Cody, Katie, and Uncle Joe getting back to the yard in time for Supper, from cutting the last of the seasons irrigated hay. This was the first time in as long as Uncle Joe could remember that they got three cuttings.





Over at CRR the boys were out doing some PM done on the Peanut Equipment. Brad stopped by to give Mike hell to see if that Iowa farm boy was ready to really eat Red Dirt doing Peanuts.

So where do you sell the peanuts down there?

Nice to see some peanut stuff. The areas out in the coastal part of NC grows them. Its more sandy out that way.

Peanuts can be sold at a farmer's market as straight out of the field raw peanuts or be sold to a CO-OP if they've been drying in the field. If they haven't been dried in the field they're taken to an industrial drying company like Johnson's Peanut Company (now defunct) until they are dry.

We have Werner Trucking haul them to the market directly on their Lowboy trailers.
