I was wondering anyone new of any ideas for making a commercial hog farm display. Thanks! Hi, welcome to the board! I don't know much about large scale farming I was raised on a small 200 acre dairy farm, but what I'd do is just go for a ride past some farms, or google image some and get some ideas. All depends on how large of an operation you want to model, and much into detail you want to go into, but just 1 to 3 barns, some feed bins, and a lagoon would give you a base start.

What kind of operation are you looking to make? Farrow to finish, finishing only, brand new, older. You could have something as simple as two 1200 head finishing barns or an old dairy barn retrofitted for farrowing crates with smaller open lot barns for starting and finishing. It really depends on if you want to model what is in your area then take a drive and see what you can find.

I was also wondering some tips on how to build hog buildings(wood type...) or where to buy them.

You will want a farrowing house, gilt barn, sow barn, boar barn, a nursery for growers and 2-3 finishers. You could combine a few of those into one building with different wings for farrowing, gilts, sows, etc. Normally the finishers are at a different farm. Some states have laws only allowing a 2400 head finisher at one location. Say your operation had 250 sows you would be finishing out around 6-7000 hogs needing atleast 3 separate finishing barn set ups. With adequate housing for replacement sows and boars. To support that you will need to row crop around 4-5000 acres to take care of the manure. That is some figuring for a decently large operation that could still be considered family owned. If I missed anything or someone else has a different idea feel free to correct me

You will also need silos to store feed. Some uses mixer mills to grind their own. Or have a truck bring it in. Equipment wise will be small in operation unless you grow your own feed. I know some do it either way.

Corrugated paper was a huge money and time saver for me when I first got into the hobby, I am a beginner, but I do have some tools like and band saw, table saw, and other various hand tools.
