It has been busy around the farm lately. The first cutting of alfalfa is also done for them as well. Had a little trouble with the weather but it is baled up. Since they got the floater the 1270 is freed up so it is the swather tractor this summer.
They ended up having to turn the hay because it got rained on. They put the 4020 on the old rake. They are looking into getting a twin rake so they can put 2 windrows together to speed baling up.
They were baling fast and furious to beat the next rain.
Don took the 4320 out and lined up the bales at the edge of the field. They will haul them home next winter.
The have all of their soybeans in the ground so now they have moved on to milo. They are almost done with the milo now too.
The deal on the 400 acres of land that they may rent went through so they have it now. They talked to the landlady about the pros and cons of no-till but they couldn't convince her to let them do it. She said her late husband always did it conventional and it worked just fine. She said she would talk to her kids about it and they may consider letting them do some in the future. So for now they are conventional tilling it. Mike is disking some ground that got a little hairy before they took it over.
Don is planting milo behind the disk. They are trying 15 inch rows in some of their milo this year.
The oats are almost ready to start swathing. They are not all that great this year but they will make a little bit of hay. They will drill cane in the oat stubble and hopefully it will do alright. That is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
