Things have been pretty slow around the farms lately, besides daily chores of feeding the creatures, and moving snow. This past week we have gotten a heat wave which melted all the snow, but made everything a sloppy mess. The weather forecast for this coming week doesn't look good with talks of heavy rain and possible flooding. This afternoon we got a serve weather alert on our phones that our part of WI is under an Ice Storm Warning for Monday afternoon into Tuesday night. Talking with Dad and Grandpa last time there was an ice storm in our area was 1976. We figured it's best to be prepared and took action right away starting at Grandpa & Grandma's farm. We have some beef cattle in their old barn which can be cold and drafty, we grabbed the Gehl, the 2594, and tandem spreader and cleaned out the barn and really bedded up the pens. The golden demo was at my parents hooked up to the bale processor, we usually give the cattle a bale Monday mornings, or early afternoon but didn't want to risk taking equipment down the icey roads, or having the large barn doors frozen shut, so I brought down a bale this afternoon. With the possibility of losing power from frozen limbs falling on power lines, or power poles tipping over we decided to unbury the old generator from the corner of the shop. The generator was in a tight spot so we had to use the old 730 to shimmy it out. We hooked the 2594 to it, because it has the newest battery's, grandpa can climb into it easier and that way I could haul the golden demo and bale processor back home instead of switching things around. If we did lose power we'd feel a lot better knowing Grandpa & Grandma were safe and warm. More than likely we'd be over there anyways checking on them so it just makes sense. Now it's just a waiting game......

Nice job on the bale in the processor. The generator looks good as well. Chris
