We have been getting a fair amount of rain here in north central Kansas. It has been cool also. The wheat is about a week behind on ripening. We are hoping to be cutting by this time next week. We got an update from our crew that is down in southern Kansas now. They are in a lot better wheat and the 7088s are performing well. They are really happy with them so far. The wheat they are in now is in the 50 to 60 bushel range. Hopefully they will get done down there in time to help us at the farm.
The grain cart driver actually has something to do now. Down in Oklahoma he wasn't too busy.
Loading the semi. The new used truck is working pretty well also. They said it has a lot of power.
Now back at the home place we are trying to swath oats between rains.
We have the combines in the shop getting them ready for harvest. We have also been servicing the trucks. The Transtar is in for a service in the pic. We had to take the duals off of the 4850 so it could go on a baler. One morning when we were baling when we checked the oil on the 4455 it was overfull and milky. It was getting water in the oil somewhere. We brought it home to check it over. We were hoping it was the water pump but no such luck. Ben pulled the oil pan off and pressurized the cooling system. It was the liner o rings on the number 4 cylinder. Looks like it is time for an overhaul. I guess we can't complain. It has 8753 hours on it. The worst part is it runs good and doesn't use any oil but that's the way it goes. It has been getting worked on when we have spare time. So until it is fixed the 4850 will be pulling it's baler.
The 48 on it's new job.
We pulled 2 of the grain carts out to get them ready to roll while it was too muddy to go to the field. The 4955 and 8630 will be on cart duty for now.
The 8870 usually pulls this cart but it is still on the CCS. We are going to plant cane in the oat stubble but we have to get it swathed, baled and the bales moved first.
Minkler Ag has also been staying busy spraying for us and customers. Here is one truck leaving and a tender truck coming back in to reload.
The 4920 is spraying some corn.
The floater is working on spraying the summer fallow ground that is no till.
We are also still trying to work our conventional tilled summer fallow. It is looking like we are going to have to disk some of it because the weeds are getting big. Hopefully we can bale some oats in the next couple of days and get the bales moved so we can drill the rest of the cane and get the 8870 freed up for grain cart duty. It is supposed to be a hot one this week so hopefully we can accomplish a lot and be ready to cut some wheat next week. That is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
