The burnt 535.

My brother in law was baling first cutting of alfalfa a while back. It got too dry so he quite. My father in law came back later in the day to try it again. As he was getting close to the baler and tractor he saw a puff of smoke. Holy crap the baler was burning. He hauled butt up to it and started unhooking it. It was getting so hot he couldn't get the safety chain unhooked. He said he just jumped in the 4430 put it in 7th gear wound it up and dumped the clutch. Luckily the chain broke and he got away from it and saved the tractor. Here is what is left. They don't know what caused it. They figure something was apparently hot and the wind had came up and it must have got it burning.





They found another 535 to replace it. At least they didn't have to drag the old 510 out of the weeds. Questions and comments welcome.

A couple of years ago one of my friends farm 14000 acres with 2 480 Cats and they shut down at night.... the next morning they came back and there was only 1 left.... they figured a hot bearing on durum chaff in the return elevator started it

These kinds of things make me nevious about leaving balers and combines un attended in hot dry weather sorry about the baler that really sucks
