Ive had these pics for awhile now just gettin around to postin them.
09 wheat harvest is in the books. It was one of the best ever acording to dad and grandpa. 8000 acres, just over 400,000 bushel, 8 actual harvest days, but with the rain that was spread over about 13 days. Ended up averging in the mid 50s with about a 62lb test weight. The only bad thing is there was no protien to speak of so we're haveing trouble getting it shipped. Only major breakdown was a blown truck engine a couple of stuck combines, other than that things went off without a hitch. on with the pics.
We usually try to break combines up into 2 machine groups but we had a couple of days that we got into a few fields big enough to run more.
with the good yeilds we rented a J&M grain storm to help out from the local dealer and put it on the 4955. It was a used one and the dealer ended up making a good deal on it so we sent it on north with the harvest crew.
the harvest crew showed up the second day we cut, witch was good because the way it was going we werent sure if they would even be able to help at all.
We've been looking to replace the 9600 that we keep to windrow and came across a sharp 9650 on a farm sale. The buyer that buys our alfalfa called and said he was in dyre need of wheat straw and would give us 50$ a ton for all we could send. So we sent the new 9650 and 485 to windrow 1000 acres.
So now we're just trying to get as empty as possible for fall harvest so the trucks have been running 24/7 as long as they have somewhere to go.
we're trying some double crop soys this year on some of the irrigated ground, so instead of getting a planter out we used the ccs.
Since we decided to work some of the summerfallow we hired a couple of kids from town this summer to help out. So while we were cutting Nick was on summerfallow duty with the new 9630 and 9x5 v-blades.
So things keep spinnin round, thanks for droppin by. ?s and comments always welcome. Dustin.
