I am really behind on my journals. This is kind of a catch up journal. Hopefully I can do better at getting some posted. It rained right after we were done with wheat harvest. It gave us some time to clean up the combines and put everything away.
Putting the grain carts away.
When it dried out we got to disking the continuous crop wheat that we conventional till. We also had to disk some summer fallow that had gotten pretty hairy because of all of the rain. We even got the little disks out to try to cover more acres. We had to hit some of the wheat stubble twice because of the heavy straw.
We put NH3 on the summer fallow and some of the continuous in early August when we were going over it. It was down around 300 dollars a ton again so since we were covering the ground anyway we put it on.
We covered it in pretty short order running 4 tractors. Here are the Versatiles fueling up.
We also had to burn down the no till ground. Both the continuous wheat and the stuff that will be fall crops next year.
We have also been hauling wheat out of the elevator. A load of wheat is leaving as one of the spray rigs is coming in to refill.
We have also put up the 3rd cutting of alfalfa and have started laying down cane. We have been staying busy for sure. We also got the engine overhaul done on the 4455 so it is back on the baler. Then the air conditioner compressor locked up on the 4430 so we stuck the 4850 on the rake. It has plenty of power for the job. LOL
The swather's are fueling up.
We are also not far from chopping silage and putting up high moisture corn for the feedlot. Wheat drilling time is just around the corner as well. We were fortunate to not have any crops totaled by the hail that has hit around the area. We have had some damage but not as bad as some people. Some guys in the area bailed there soybeans because the hail destroyed them. The corn has been getting chopped for silage. Well that is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
