Hey Guys Well it seems like it has been a pretty wild year everywhere but here. Between repeats of 2008 flooding, extreme winds, and baseball sized hail all around Iowa, we sure feel lucky that the worst we got was only some wind that resulted in some goosenecked popcorn. Several weeks ago, we started getting everything ready for fall. We got the last of the grain hauled out in mid-August, and the combines were gone through at the dealer for some warranty work. The four combines, the tractors, and the grain carts, wagons, and semis were all powerwashed and waxed. The cabs were cleaned out, and the filters and oil were changed. We started soybean harvest last Thursday. We only have a couple fields that are ready to go, and since this is the 2 9870s first harvest seasons, there was a lot of time spent getting them set up right. Once they were set, they could really go. We can really tell the difference between the 9870s and the 9660s. We were the first in our area to get a 9870. Everyone else is running 96 and 9770s. The 98s do drink more fuel, but we can travel another m.p.h. faster than the 9660s with 6 more feet of head. While the 9870s were at home waiting for more beans to mature, we tried the 36ft. head on one of the 9660s. This field was only partially ready, but what was ready was yielding 60+ b.p.a. at 12% moisture. Here are some pics: We only brought the 1050, one semi and a pair of 644s with the 9660.

Nice Journal. I like your pics. We have some beans around here that are just about ready. Right now our focus is on getting wheat in the ground. We will try and get some beans cut and wheat drilled in behind them.
