Wow, this fall has been a nightmare. Everything hit all at once it seems. We finally got all the hay up, the 4th cutting of alfalfa came off real well, the only cutting we've gotten up without rain on it. The cane was about the same, we had one of the best cane crops anyone can remember. Well we'll jump right in.
We sold some high moisture corn to a few feedlots hoping to spread out the fall harvest, and it did some what, but not near enough. The 8010 and 8120 did that early in sept.
When they got done with that we thought we had some time so they picked up about 1000 acs of custom bean work up in Neb.
We thought we had time because ours were planted alittle later and didnt think they were dry yet, but due to some bad weather and a few break downs the Neb job took longer than expected. The next thing we knew ours were ready. So we but the deeres to work.
Right in the middle of all that the cane silage got ready due to a light freeze, so then we had that to contend with.
We've also been drilling wheat, we have the summerfallow and continous done, we also put all the cane stuble back and its done, but we're waiting to get the beans off so we can put wheat behind it. All was going fine untill 2in of rain, then as soon as that was drying out more rain and 2in of snow hit. The drills sitting and waiting
So while were waiting we're weaning calves and trying to move as much wheat out of the bins as we can. But with the low protien wheat its getting harder to find somewhere to go with it.
With all the rain this summer and the huge amount of hay the local hay market has gone to manure so we've been hauling to feedlots and daries down south. I called Clayton the other day and asked if he wanted to take a load south with me. He said he could since it was wet.
loaded and ready to roll
Well sorry to get so long winded, but theres been alot of activity. Things keep spinnin, thanks for looking. ?s and comments are always welcome. Dustin
