Well we have been getting a lot of corn seed in the ground here at Minkler Farms. We were down to 200 acres left when we got rained out on Monday the 10th. We have been out of the field since. We were hoping to get back at it today or tomorrow but we got .60 inch of rain this morning. It looks like it will be a few more days now. Here are some pics from earlier in the month. Here is the 8850 field cultivating in front of the planter.
We have been having some occasional trouble with losing out gps signal in the evenings. I was planting with the 4850 and Kinze and had to go back to using the markers and steering wheel because I couldn't get signal.
I don't know if anyone is having gps problems anywhere else but a few guys around here are talking about it. The Deere dealer said that there are some satellites that have went out of service and when they go over the horizon the next one isn't close enough and you will lose service for a while. Here is the other rig planting and he hasn't lost signal and is booking along with the autosteer on.
Here they are loading the planters and getting ready to roll one morning a while back.
We really like the Kinze but it in not near as handy to fill.
Greasing the planter and getting ready to roll.
Now we are parked waiting for some dry weather.
The sprayers were staying busy while the weather was cooperating. Here is one loading out of the tender trailer.
We have been getting the drills ready to roll to plant soybeans and milo.
At least we have the cattle worked and out to grass. It is also about time to start spraying musk thistle. When it dries out we will be busy again. We have soybeans, milo, and forage sorghum to plant. It is also about time to cut the first cutting of alfalfa as well. That is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
