Well here is the final lineup for my display. About the only things that I still might change are the tractors and the grain drill. Other than those things i think this is pretty well the finalized version of things. I hope to get this display completed before i leave for college in 3 1/2 years but I probably wont be able to have it up to my liking by that point in time. I am taking my time on this and adding as much detail as I can into each item to make it as realistic as possible. Let me know what you guys think and what needs changed or added. Anyways, heres the list:

More Information

Stewart Farms:

Location- North West Kansas

Land- 5,500 acres, 5000 owned, 500 rented. All dry land crops, may start experimenting with drip irrigation

Crops- Seed wheat 3,000; corn 1,600; milo 900

Crop rotations:

Basic rotation for 2,500 acres of the land
Year 1- wheat planted in summer fallow.
Year 2- wheat stubble put into chem.-fallow
Year 3- corn or milo no-tilled into chem.-fallow, corn or milo is harvested and ground put into summer fallow
Year 4- in the fall, crop rotation begins again

Wheat on Wheat
Year 1- wheat planted in summer fallow
Year 2- wheat harvested, ground put into summer fallow, wheat planted again in the fall

Farming Practices- Minimum tillage on summer fallow, spraying in chem.-fallow, paraplow used on headlands and other high compaction areas.

Grain handling- corn and seed wheat stored on farm and rented bins on other farms. Milo goes to Cargill elevator. Seed wheat is cleaned by mobile seed cleaner.

Custom work- custom spraying is done with both Rogators with our land being worked into the schedule, sprayers are transported by Volvo trucks and 50 foot sprayer trailers. Some custom cutting may be possible if another farmer needs help or a combine is not being used.

History- Family owned farm, Son took over from father and the father still drives truck during the fall. 2 full time employees and 8 others drive trucks during fall.

Thanks Jay, now its time to get to work on stuff. I think ill be starting on the combines and tractors first as no point in having the rest of it till i have something to pull it with haha. I figure give me 3 years and oh about $2,000 and ill be done with this display. That leaves me just over 1/2 year to enjoy it before college

If you are meaning what is it going to harvest, i plan on adding some sunflowers into the rotation later but i need to do some more research first. I may mix that in with the wheat on wheat rotation.

looks real good, should make for a great display. Sunflowers make a great addition to a rotation, especially a no-till one. They work great if you plant them in milo or cornstalks in the spring then go to wheat right after harvest in the fall. They have a really long tap root which helps break up any hardpan and make the ground alot more "mellow". The stalks however can be realy hard after harvest, and can puncture a 2wd tire, you wont have as much of a problem with a mfwd tire. And you do need to keep a eye out for headmoths. You usually dont have trouble unless theres alot of flowers in the surounding area. Some guys around here have had to spray at least twice, and most guys us a plane, I have seen it done with a row machine but you tend to knock alot of plants over due to the size of the heads.

thanks for the info dustin. Not to many flowers grown within 20 miles but we still have the sunflower elevator at colby (30 miles).

I have never grown sunflowers but I have dealt with them on the elevator side. They are a pain in the rear to deal with. They don't slide like normal grain so they don't run to the auger as well. Which equals a lot more scooping. But on a positive note they oil you boots really good. ;D

Yeah Ive hauled a load or two out to the one in goodland when I was helping a neighbor. Its funny theres alot of old timers around here that say they will never plant a weed that they've tried to kill their whole farming career.

Sounds good Austin your adding a lot of detail with the extras
