I think the new skidloaders are like that. We had a bobcat that used the foot controls. Then we got a 90xt that drove the same way, but used the handles to move the loader. My uncle bought a case 450 and the left was used for driving while the right for the loader.

Thats the way this one is.. The left is used to steer it and the right is used to run the loaded.. Its pretty slick.. I ran a new t300 bob cat and it had the foot pedals for the loader..

Nice pictures, and your right about the old 40 series tractors, they are built like tanks. One of our 4440's my grandpa bought new in 1979 and we still have it with 9700 hours on it. Only thing it has ever had wrong with it is a starter, a couple altenators, a water pump and the third hydraulic valve wasn't working for a couple years. The other 4440 dad bought used with about 5000 hours, it now has 10,000 hours and it has only had 1 alternator, and the 4040 has never had a problem except for a clutch spring and a water pump.

if theres one thing i love more thatn anything is restoring and old farmall just has always intrged me we put a turbo in a 560 desil this summer
