Not much going on on the ponderosa at the moment. The heifers should start calving in a week or so, so we brought them home off of stalks and went to feeding them a high energy ration. We also preg checked one of the big bunches of cows that were on winter pasture, we would like to do some of the others but their still out on stalks and we dont feel lilke setting up that many panels. We did get some news on the new combine front, the deere dealer called and said the 9870 had been delivered to their store in Neb about and hour away and they didnt have time to go get it but it was ready to come home so we went and got it. The 9750 had gone to the local dealer after fall harvest.
9750 leaving for the last time.
the 9870 comming home.
The Case dealer in Holdredge Neb called and said that our 8120 was also ready to come home, which wasnt a surprise since we had went to Grand Island and picked it up and delivered it to them a couple of weeks ago so they could do the predilivery inspection. So I went a picked it up so it wouldnt be sitting outside on there lot.
After harvest we traded our two 30ft case headers for 45ft Macdons. Since we knew we were getting the 8120 and the dealer said the 8010 could handle one so we went ahead and got one for it too. They've been sitting in the shed waiting for the 8120 to show up so we got them out and hooked them up to make sure everything was going to work.
All we did was run them for a few minutes just to make sure they worked right. Looks like they're going to be just fine. Man are they big. We went with 45s because we cant drive very fast in some of our fields and were haveing trouble cleaning in lower yeilding fields and the case dealer said that we needed bigger heads. But sitting in the cab looking at those things, Im worried we might have bitten off more than we can handle. Its realy going to be a challenge getting them around our roads but I think they'll be worth it in the end. Well thats all for now, sorry to get so long winded. Things keep spinnin round, ?s and comments always welcome. Dustin
