Wow! That is one heck of a vac. I have never seen one of those in action. The vac we have at the coop I work at is a total POS. It is like a toy compared to that bad boy.

I wonder how those work and what they was used for. I always auger the grain out. Then when got low enough. Had to climb in and scoop the rest into the floor auger.

they work by sucking air in to the drum at very high speeds with the grain then the grain hits a cone and gets seperated off and then an auger either air fed or auger fed carries it up and dumps it in the truck

Agreed, Walinga is pretty hard to beat in my books. If you keep them serviced and keep the air-lock adjusted properly they're a wonderful machine.

We have the most experience with Conveyair (or now Buhler) vacs, hasn't had any problems except for the hoses wearing out. Although neighbors have all loved their machines: Brandt, Walinga, Rem. There are almost no small gas augers left in the entire area.

We don't even use those around here. We just put the auger under the unloader, use the sweep and sweep the excess into the grates.

we used a grain vac during my internship. we used it to unload a hopper bin into a truck, to move it to a different hopper bin. poor planning on the hog producers part.

Yeah usually we use an auger for the majority but once it runs outta product to auger or the auger cant get any more we finish up with the grain vac

Seems like you might get a headache from all the noise, sounds about like walking behind one of the new Case IH vacuum planters oiling chains, never do that one again. That makes me glad that all of our bins have concrete pits, makes life so much easier although it can be a trick trying to clean them.
