Cool pics. Where are their grain trailers? I did not ask. I imagine the trailers were dropped this spring/late winter where they intend to start. Wheat is ready near the TX/OK border. One guy mentioned in passing test cutting was happening where ever they are headed.

I think we have met up with Krafts a couple times. But thats odd that the grain trailers would be down there they must not have enough trucks to keep up.
Thanks for sharing Dallas And what town is that in?

Nice pics. I have seen a few crews come through town this week. I didn't know if there would be many coming through from what I have heard about the wheat down south.

Dallas, the town is Great Bend KS. It is one of the hubs for cutters to come through. As kid I saw many cutters roll through. I do not think it is uncommon anymore for cutters to move equipment as needed. By moving in stages you reduce labor. More trucks equals more drivers and you maximize the trucks you have reducing equipment investments. More hassle on the part of the workers and could reduce efficiency a bit when in a crunch to move from location to location. In my area I have met trucks going south with empty combine trailers etc to pick up machines and related equipment to go north.
Clayton, In Texas last weekend we met a couple cutters moving south. My son spotted a couple R72s and we met some Deeres. Where we were in North TX wheat looked ripe from the road.

Big City over there...LOL I used to go to school in Great Bend. Cool to see some pics from some familiar places.
I've seen many crews coming through. Can never catch pics since I'm never close enough. Both Snell's and Taft's left this week.

I wish them the best of luck trying to find wheat. The wheat looks good from the road, but its about shin high and there's hardly anything in the heads. People might try to start cutting next week.

i have seen a couple r72's as well, mayb the same ones? i live just and hour from greatbend...i am hopin to see a couple crews blow through here too It seems crews stray away from the four lane highways. Maybe I am wrong. I've seen many of crews going both north and south on highways 281 (Great Bend), 183 (Hays), 283 (Dodge City). Hope you get to see some. Park yourself in Great Bend at HWY 56/156 and 281 and you will see cutters.

We stay off 4 ways because there is more traffic and a greater chance of a accident or the DOT pull us over and find some of the little tiny things that are wrong.
Most crews do that also. Dallas

I think those guys must have missed the message about the conditions down south. I know the big cutter out of Hays has not left or only took part of the crew at this point as a few of his machines are still at the Deere dealer. I know that Schiltz harvesting picked up their machines a couple of weeks ago but I dont know if they have left yet either.
