cool pics. that second way does look harder and colder. i hope for your sake we dont have any of that -40 this year. how come the farmland refinery closed?

It quit making fuel in the early 80s. It has just been a pipeline terminal and asphalt loading and unloading terminal since then. The old times always said Farmland ran it into the ground.

That is a Flex King sweep. They are also called v-blades or undercutters. They used to be a very common tillage tool in this area before no till. They are used to kill weeds in summer fallow. They slide along under the soil with out disturbing the top too much to help with erosion and retain the moisture.

Im surprised I didn't see any storm chaser trucks out my way over those really bad storms that plowed their way through our state. I wondered what they looked like.
