Well some new pics just became available. I will be pre-ordering a set this weekend and will be anxiuosly awaiting their arrival. On the whole I am pretty happy with the looks so far. As far as things that I'm not too big a fan of: the front tires, to me, look to clase to the hood, and the front tires on the 55 and 60 seem too small. I know a lot of guys aren't happy about the rear singles but like i said thats an easy fix. However it would have been cool to have duals of the newly tooled tires and rims. What do you all think and what will you do? What are you gonna use them for? www.farmtoysforfun.com/JD4850-4955-4960-15983.jpg

I for one love the new rims just I don't need them on the 4850. I also will be pre-ordering a set very soon! I will be leaving the tires on the 4955 and just detailing it with mirrors, lights and 3pt. The 4960 will get some new tires on it (20.8-42) and also put new decals for a 4760 then mirrors, lights, and 3pt. Now the 4850..... She will get new decals for a 4650 then new tires (20.8R-38 and 18.4-32s) then I'll put lights, mirrors, and a 3pt. The 4955 and the 4760 may be sold. if not they will go to the shelf.

Well... I have projects planned for both the 4850 and 4955, but i'm not sure what i'll do with the 4960. I'll prolly put it on the shelf, customize it, or sell it.

Sweet. I can't wait to get my hands on them. I wish they had duals though, but I can fix that problem.

You could, but you know what those casting cost now. A nip is 15 plus at least. All you have to do to the new one is remove driveshaft and fix side screens.

I have not got cost figures on the set yet so i would just be speculating. Would not be a firm price. Fully decked would prolly be in the 55 buck range.

I'm liking the casting except for the solid FWA drive shaft. I absolutly HATE the tires on the 4960 and 4955, so they will be taken off. I think for the 4850 I'm gonna get 16.9x28s and 18.4x42's for it. The 4955 I might make it into a row-crop cultivating tractor with 14.9x46s and 13.6x36s. 4960, not sure, but maybe 20.8x42s and 18.4x34s. Those fronts might be a little big, though. Oh, and those ugly fenders will be coming off, too.

Well, that's just what the pics that Bill showed us had. I have a hard time believing that they'd change it. Hopefully I'm wrong though. I'd rather have something like what the 7800s had.

I can wait the extra few days as well, although new Farm Toys usually arrive later in Canada so it may be a few weeks before I get to see them. Oh well what can you do.
Although I wish Ertl would just say coming Spring 09 etc instead of a specific day.
